Go Code 2015 Graduation Ceremony and Exhibition
Go Code 2015 Graduation Ceremony and Exhibition 16/01/2016 More than 160 participants, including officiating guests, representatives of partnering organisations, parents and over 60 graduates who received Silver Award, attended the 'Go Code 2015' Graduation Ceremony on 16 January (Sat). The 'Go Code 2015' Exhibition was held from 15 to 17 January (Fri – Sun) to showcase the works of the graduates – Ball Bounce and Shake Alarm, as well as apps designed by City University students.
To further support the community and equip the next generation with essential skills, the Group initiated the Go Code project in 2014 for children from underprivileged families to learn coding. The programme has been well received, growing from about 20 students in the first year to more than 300 in 2015. Partnering with social service organisations and schools, students recruited from Primary 4 to 6 completed the 2015 curriculum that spanned from April to November. Under the guidance of tutors, the children learnt coding tools and applied the knowledge to create apps that cater to daily life as well as interactive game apps. More importantly, they learnt happily through trial and error, training in logical thinking and acquired problem-solving skills. The right attitude in using information technology has also been fostered.
