Overview

We believe voluntary services promote a closer community and bring happiness and care to those in need. We also hold a firm belief that our people can better contribute to the community through voluntary services while develop personal capabilities such as leadership, management and communication and leadership skills. With the full support of the Group’s management, we have joined hands with our long-standing community partners and participated in their programmes, and established Sino Caring Friends in 2008 to further encourage participation in voluntary services for a better community.


Sino Home Visit Programme
Monthly Elderly Home Visits - Christmas Celebration Sino Caring Friends arranged a visit to Olympian City Christmas Market for the residents in Ho Shing Home for the Elderly (Sponsored by Sik Sik Yuen) on 17 December to spend a joyful evening with the elderly, enjoying a dinner and the festive light decorations together.

Festive Home Visit – Winter Home Visits About 70 Sino Caring Friends joined the ‘Winter Home Visits’ on 13-15 December, visiting some 120 underprivileged families and elderly living in Sham Shui Po and Kwun Tong and presented them with festive gifts.
 
This service was rendered with support from Kwun Tong Methodist Social Service, Society for Community Organization and Hong Kong Young Women’s Christian Association Sham Shui Po Integrated Social Service Centre.
Festive Home Visit – ‘Mooncake Speaks for My Heart’ Home Visits and Party The Group held the 17th ‘Mooncake Speaks for My Heart’ Home Visits on 6-7 September. Over 70 Sino Caring Friends visited 100 underprivileged families and elderly living in Sham Shui Po and Kwun Tong and presented them with festive gifts.
 
Sino Caring Friends also held a celebration at Hong Kong Young Women’s Christian Association Sham Shui Po Integrated Social Service Centre on 9 September, where single-parent families living in Sham Shui Po made snowy mooncake and played festive themed games together. 'We would like to thank Sino Caring Friends for bringing joy to the underprivileged families and enabling them to have an enjoyable time with their children,’ said Ms Caroline Chim, Social Worker of the Hong Kong Young Women’s Christian Association Sham Shui Po Integrated Social Service Centre.

Festive Home Visits – Dragon Boat Festival Home Visits Over 50 Sino Caring Friends joined the 'Dragon Boat Festival Home Visits' on 1-3 June. They visited about 120 underprivileged families in Sham Shui Po and Tsuen Wan and presented them with festive gifts.
 
'We would like to thank Sino Group for continuous care to the underprivileged families and visiting them during festive seasons. They felt the heartfelt warmth from Sino Caring Friends,' said Stanley Ling, Supervisor of Asbury Methodist Social Service.

Festive Home Visits – CNY Home Visits Around 70 Sino Caring Friends joined the 'CNY Home Visits’ on 17 and 18 February. They visited some 70 underprivileged families in Sham Shui Po and Kwun Tong and presented them with festive gifts.

Monthly Elderly Home Visits - Visits at Tsz Wan Shan 'Sino Caring Friends' is collaborating with Ho Chui District Community Centre for Senior Citizens (Sponsored by Sik Sik Yuen) on the 'Monthly Elderly Home Visits' programme for the sixth year running. Starting from March this year, Sino Caring Friends will visit the elderly living alone in Tsz Wan Shan to spread the message of love and care.
 
This service has been rendered with support from Ho Chui District Community Centre for Senior Citizens (Sponsored by Sik Sik Yuen).
Monthly Elderly Visits – Visits at Shatin ‘Sino Caring Friends’ is collaborating with Ho Shing Home for the Elderly (Sponsored by Sik Sik Yuen) on the ‘Monthly Elderly Home Visits’ programme to provide service for those living in home for the elderly.  This is our third consecutive year of partnership to spread the message of love.
 
Sino Caring Friends arranged a tour to Lam Tsuen, Tai Po and Che Kung Temple, Sha Tin for the residents in Ho Shing Home for the Elderly (Sponsored by Sik Sik Yuen) on 20 February to pray for good fortune in the Year of the Monkey.

Monthly Elderly Home Visits - Dragon Boat Festival Celebration 'Sino Caring Friends' visited Ho Shing Home for the Elderly (Sponsored by Sik Sik Yuen) on 21 May and wrapped rice dumplings with the elderly residents to celebrate Dragon Boat Festival.
 
'Our elderly residents look forward to meeting "Sino Care Friends". They truly enjoy chatting and wrapping rice dumplings with the volunteers,' said Patrick Leung, Superintendent of the Ho Shing Home for the Elderly (Sponsored by Sik Sik Yuen).

Sino Care Celebration Series in 2016
Sino Care Movie Day 19/03/2016 The Group has hosted about 170 guests from Tsuen Wan, Sham Shui Po, Kwun Tong and Fanling to a movie at the sky at Olympian City on 19 March to celebrate Easter.

'Thank you for inviting me and my family to watch this interesting movie to start my Easter holiday. I enjoy the show very much and look forward to joining the next activity soon,' shares Lee Yan Wing, one of the invitees.

Children and Youth Activities
Sino Children Mentorship Programme - Tai Kok Tsui 10/12/2016 Sino Group continues the partnership with Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Jockey Club Tai Kok Tsui Integrated Services Centre on the ‘Sino Children Mentorship Programme 2016’. This is the fifth consecutive year of collaboration of the programme popular with underprivileged families in Tak Kok Tsui. Each Sino Caring Friends mentor will lead a small group of mentees to take part in a series of green, care and art related activities. This year, we invite an art education group focusing on food education to incorporate art elements into green living and practising food waste reduction.  
Future Stars Project of Commission on Poverty 17/11/2016 Sino Group has supported the Future Stars Project organised by the Commission on Poverty for three years running. As part of our ongoing support, a career workshop on property management was held on 17 November in partnership with Hong Kong Employment Development Service Limited for about 30 students from Buddhist Tai Kwong Chi Hong College. Through sharing by senior executives from the Group and site visits to our shopping mall, the students have gained a better understanding of the property management industry.
2016 School Care Subsidy Scheme 09/07/2016 Organised by the Music Office of the Leisure & Cultural Services Department and sponsored by Sino Group, the ‘School Care Subsidy Scheme’ has drawn participation of over 230 school music groups and reached out to more than 21,000 underprivileged families since its launch in 2009. Students are encouraged to serve the community through music performance, nurturing their sense of social responsibility.
 
2016 "School Care Subsidy Scheme" Care and Concern Gala Concert

The 2016 ‘School Care Subsidy Scheme’ Care and Concern Gala Concert was held at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Foyer on 9 July 2016. Over 200 students from primary and secondary schools showed care through the performances of Chinese orchestra, orchestra, drum, recorder, bamboo dance and singing a cappella to the public. To promote cross-generation relationship between elderly and youth, the programme featured a classic pop singing by a group of elderly and students.

Drawing Activity in Lee Tung Avenue 16/04/2016 The Group has hosted students from underprivileged families and who are interested in arts to a drawing activity in Lee Tung Avenue. Seventeen students, aged from 13 to 18, portrayed the unique charm of Wan Chai with their creative strokes after attending a guided tour covering architectural features, art elements and green initiatives of the tree-lined pedestrianised boulevard.
 
This is part of the efforts of the Group to bring arts to the community, and to foster creativity for children through different arts education programmes.
 
The service was rendered in partnership with Young Artist Development Foundation.
Go Code Project 2016 09/07/2016 The Group initiated the ‘Go Code’ project in 2014 for children from underprivileged families to learn computer knowledge and coding, which is crucial to personal development and upward mobility in the technology era.
 
Into its third year, Sino Group is partnering with CityU Apps Lab, The Hong Kong Council of Social Service and WebOrganic on the 2016 curriculum.  In addition to learning coding and creating their own smartphone apps, students can benefit from the training in logic and problem-solving through trial and error.  They also have the opportunity to visit the innovation projects at the City University of Hong Kong and publicly showcase their apps. 
Sino Children Mentorship Programme - Kwun Tong 02/07/2016 On the heels of positive feedback on the Sino Children Mentorship Programme since its launch in 2012, we have extended the service to Kwun Tong to benefit more students. Partnering with the Tung Wah Group of Hospital Chan Han Nursery School, we provide tailored fitness activities for young children.  Under the guidance of a professional fitness trainer, children learn to work on the coordination of sensory and motor skills as well as training their communications skills through interactions with mentors.
Charity Walks and Fund-raising Events
‘Hong Chi Climbathon 2016’ Charity Stair Run 15/10/2016 The Group has supported ‘Hong Chi Climbathon’ Charity Stair Run for the thirteenth consecutive year. This year’s run was held on 15 October (Sat) at Central Plaza. The Group has formed a relay team with Trainees of Hong Chi Association to promote social integration. The Group won the 75-Floor Relay (Men’s) Championship and the 29-Floor Relay (Open) Championship.
 
To ensure that our athletes are well prepared, the Group has provided an 8-session training course for participants. The course covered physical training, locomotor skills for stair-climbing and prevention of sports injury.
AVS Charity Walk & Run for Volunteering 2016 25/09/2016 Over 300 colleagues and their family members and friends participated in 'AVS Walk & Run for Volunteering 2016', the annual fund-raising event of Agency for Volunteer Service held on 25 September (Sunday) and raised fund to promote volunteerism in Hong Kong. Participants set off from Evangel College, and enjoyed an exhilarating walk and the scenic environment of Tseung Kwan O South Waterfront Promenade.
 
The Group received ‘The Most Supportive Team Award – Gold' and ‘The Top Fundraisers Award – Gold'.
New Territories Walk 2016 13/03/2016 The Group participated in the 'New Territories Walk for Millions 2016' organised by the Community Chest of Hong Kong on 13 March. About 400 colleagues and their family members and friends joined the charity walk along the Tai Po Waterfront Park Promenade to raise funds for 24 social welfare organisations in providing 'Family and Child Welfare Services'.
 
The walk started from Tai Po Waterfront Park, passed through Lam Tsuen River Side and concluded at Plover Cove Road Mini-soccer Pitch, spanning a total distance of approximately 4.5 km.

2016Awards
2015/16 Award of Excellence Sino Group was awarded the 2015/16 Award of Excellence by The Community Chest of Hong Kong in appreciation of the active participation and continuous support to various fundraising programmes organised by the Chest over the past year.
The Third Runner-up at the 2016 New Territories Walk Top Fund-raiser Awards Sino Group received the Third Runner-up at the 2016 New Territories Walk Top Fund-raiser Awards from The Community Chest of Hong Kong in recognition of the Group's support to the charity walk.
Caring Company Logo 2015/16 Sino Group has been awarded the 'Caring Company Logo' by The Hong Kong Council of Social Service for 13 years running and the '10 Years Plus Caring Company Logo' for the third consecutive year.  More than 20 subsidiaries, shopping malls, commercial developments and hotels under the Group were also awarded the 'Caring Company Logo'. The recognitions are a testament to the Group for the continuous support to the community, green initiatives and arts and culture.
The 4th Long Term Achievements Star Award Sino Group received the 4th Long Term Achievements Star Award at the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Corporate Partnership Recognition Ceremony 2016 in recognition of the steadfast commitment to serving the community and the long-standing partnership with the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals. Four organisations have been conferred the Long Term Achievements Star Award since the establishment of the award.

The 6th Hong Kong Volunteer Award Sino Group received 'The 6th Hong Kong Volunteer Award – Corporate Award' by the Agency for Volunteer Service for its continuous contribution and accomplishments in promoting volunteering.
2014/15 President's Award In recognition of the active participation and strong support to various fundraising programmes organised by The Community Chest of Hong Kong over the past year, Sino Group was awarded the 2014/15 President's Award by the Chest. Our sponsored programmes included 'Community for the Chest Television Charity Show 2014 – Go Green for the Chest', 'New Territories Walk for Millions', 'The Community Chest BOCHK Charity Golf Day', 'The Community Chest Wheelock Swim for a Million' and 'SHKP Vertical Run for Charity – Race to Hong Kong ICC'.

The 4th Outstanding Corporate Social Responsibility Award Sino Group has been recognised at the Fourth Outstanding Corporate Social Responsibility Award organised by Mirror Post for its commitment to upholding corporate social responsibility and serving the community. The Group received the ‘Outstanding Corporate Social Responsibility Award’.

The 5th Hong Kong Outstanding Corporate Citizenship Award Sino Group has been recognised at the 'The 5th Hong Kong Outstanding Corporate Citizenship Awards' organised by the Hong Kong Productivity Council and the Committee on the Promotion of Civic Education for its commitment to upholding corporate social responsibility.  The Group received the 'Certificate of Merit in Volunteer Team category – Sino Group' and the 'Certificate of Merit in Enterprise category – Sino Group of Hotels'. Additionally,  Sino Estates Management Limited (Pacific Palisades), Island Resort Estate Management Company Limited and Sino Parking Services Limited received 'Corporate Citizenship Logo' in the Enterprise category.
Sliver Donor Award Sino Group received the 'Sliver Donor Award' from the Agency for Volunteer Service (AVS) in recognition of its continuous support on fundraising activities of AVS in 2013 / 2014.

TWGHs Corporate Partnership Recognition Ceremony 2013 Sino Group has been recognised by Tung Wah Group of Hospitals at the TWGHs Corporate Partnership Recognition on 21 March for its continuous contribution to the community in the past year, including the monthly Home Improvement Service, Festive Home Visits and Summer Mentorship Programme.
Hong Kong Family Welfare Society Volunteer Recognition Day Sino Group received the 'Certificate of Appreciation' from Hong Kong Family Welfare Society for the partnership of organising voluntary services in 2012 – 2013, including the monthly 'Home Improvement Service', 'Summer Mentorship Programme' and sponsoring the 'Growth Enhancement' Learning Project. Sino Caring Friends volunteer team also participated in the Circle Painting session with other corporate volunteers to kick off the event.

2012Awards
Caring Company Logo Sino Group has been awarded the 'Caring Company Logo' by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service for the ninth consecutive year since 2003 in recognition of our continuous commitment to community, green and art activities. Additionally, Sino Estates Management Ltd (SEML) has received the '10 Years Caring Company Logo' for its steadfast support to the community over the past ten years.
2011/12 'President's Award' Sino Group received the 2011/12 'President's Award' by The Community Chest. The Group has been actively participating in various fundraising activities organised by The Community Chest in the past year, including 'Row for the Chest' of 'Community for the Chest 2011/12, 'The Community Chest BOCHK Charity Golf Day 2012' and 'New Territories Walk 2012'.
Gold Donor Award Sino Group received the 'Gold Donor Award' by the Agency for Volunteer Service (AVS) in recognition of its continuous support on fundraising activities of AVS in the past years, including the 'AVS Charity Walk for Volunteering 2011' and 'AVS Charity Walk & 10km Run for Volunteering 2012'.
Certificate of Appreciation Sino Group received the 'Certificate of Appreciation' from Hong Kong Family Welfare Society in recognition of the Group's support. During the past year, the Group has been partnering with the Society to organise different kinds of activities, including sponsoring families to visit Pak Shek Kok Promenade in Tai Po and organising guided tours and art workshops for children and women members.
Top Fund-raiser Award Sino Group received the '3rd Runner-up of Top fund-raiser Award' in the New Territories Walk from the Community Chest in recognition of the Group's support.
2011Awards
5 Years Plus Caring Company Logo Sino Group and its two affiliates, Sino Estates Management Ltd (SEML) and Sino Hotels (Holdings) Ltd have been awarded the 5 Years Plus Caring Company Logo by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service for the 8th consecutive year since 2003. 
2010/11 'Award of Distinction' Sino Group was conferred the 2010/11 'Award of Distinction' by The Community Chest. During the past year, the Group has been actively participating in various fundraising activities of Community Chest, including 'The Community Chest BOCHK Charity Golf Day' and 'The Community Chest Sports Corporate Challenge'.
Friends of Social Enterprise 2011 The Home Affairs Bureau of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Social Enterprise Advisory Committee launched the 'Be a Friend to Social Enterprise' campaign in 2011 to promote public awareness of social enterprises (SEs). Organisations and individuals paying active contribution to SEs will be recognised.

Sino Group has been nominated by 'Tai Kok Tsui Mrs. Mc', a social enterprise of Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Jockey Club Tai Kok Tsui Integrated Services Centre in recognition of our dedicated support to its operation. The Group has been conferred the 'Friends of Social Enterprise 2011'.
2010Awards
2009/10 'Award of Distinction' Sino Group was recognized with the 2009/10 'Award of Distinction' by The Community Chest. During the past year, the Group has been actively participating in various Chest's fundraising activities, including the 'Run-up Two ifc Charity Race', 'New Territories Walk for Millions - Stonecutters Bridge' and 'The Community Chest BOCHK Charity Golf Day'. The Group also raised funds for the Chest through the Shore – International Literary and Visual Art Exhibition cum Charity Sale organised by its 'Art in Hong Kong' programme.
2008Awards
Longstanding Community Chest supporter Over the years Sino Group has actively sponsored and participated in charitable activities organised by the Hong Kong Community Chest. These activities include "Sports Corporate Challenge", "Charity Golf Day", "New Territories Walk for Millions", "Corporate Challenge Half Marathon" and "Run Up Two IFC Charity Race", as well as raising funds for the Community Chest through "The Path of Heart - Lou Zheng Gang Exhibition 2008". The Group was honoured with the Community Chest President's Award for 2007/2008 in recognition of its donation of over HK$1 million.
